Sengkang Group Representation Constituency


Sengkang Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency in the north-eastern region of Singapore.
The constituency consists parts of the Sengkang town area.
Following the results from the 2020 general election, Sengkang GRC is currently helmed by leader of the team of 4 MPs He Ting Ru.

History

Before the new GRC was formed, it consisted of two separate Single Member Constituencies, namely Sengkang West and Punggol East, and the Sengkang Central ward from Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC. Sengkang West SMC was helmed by then Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Transport, Dr. Lam Pin Min whereas Charles Chong was the MP for Punggol East and Teo Ser Luck was the MP for the Sengkang Central ward.
In the 2020 Singaporean general election, it became the second GRC to be represented by the Workers' Party, after the party gained and held Aljunied GRC since the 2011 General Election.. As such, Mr Ng Chee Meng who leads the PAP team there, became the 3rd cabinet minister to lose a GRC to Opposition, following George Yeo and Lim Hwee Hwa.
