Seka Aleksić


Svetlana Piljkić, professionally known as Seka Aleksić, is a Bosnian Serb pop-folk singer.

Life and career

Born in Zvornik, Bosnia and Herzegovina she comes from an ethnically mixed marriage, the daughter of a Bosnian Serb father, Milorad Aleksić, and Bosniak mother, Ibrima. During the Bosnian war, Aleksić alongside her brother Nedžad and divorced mother escaped to Banja Koviljača.
Due to financial struggles she started singing in kafanas and discothèques at the age of fourteen, before signing to Grand Production and releasing her debut studio album Idealno tvoja in 2002. Her mainstream success, however came next year with her second album and hit-song 'Crno i zlatno'. Her 2007 album, titled 'Kraljica' remains the best-selling Serbian album. In 2006, Aleksić also starred in the popular Serbian movie and voiced Serbian synchronisation of the character Vexy in the animated feature The Smurfs 2 in 2013. She released two clothing lines in 2005 and 2007 and had a reality show on TV Prva called Moja desna ruka.
In September 2010, Aleksić married Veljko Piljikić. In 2016, they had a baby boy named Jakov. In 2020, they welcomed their second baby boy named Jovan. Aleksić, along with her family, resides in Stara Pazova, Serbia.
