Segun Awosanya


Segun Awosanya is a Nigerian realtor and Nigerian Human rights activist.
He is popularly known for convening the campaign against police brutality in Nigeria on social media as #EndSARS which actually yielded result when the Muhammadu Buhari led Federal government of Nigeria announced a total overhaul of the department of special anti robbery squad popularly known as SARS. Segun was drafted as a member of the presidential panel to overhaul the department, which is now known as FSARS. His contact was added to the list of appropriate channels to now report issues of police brutality in Nigeria.

Early life and education

‘Segun Awosanya was home schooled and started reading at the age of 4, he attended Bright Star Nursery School in Ojota, Lagos for a year in 1981 before being rapidly promoted to join the graduating class of that year to Ojota Primary School 1982-1987. He later got admission into the prestigious Ojota Secondary School in that era 1988-1994.
His civil servants parent expected that given his inherent intelligence, he ought to further his studies with a professional education in Medical Sciences but having waited for four years without a Medicine and Surgery admission but for Physiology and the likes, he went against his parents' wish and opted for Estate Management in the School of Environmental Sciences in Yaba College of Technology in 1996.
Those years at home were however not wasted as he kept himself busy with trainings on advertising, branding, music, computer science and technology appreciation amongst other ventures. While in Yabatech, he was recruited in the Yaba College of Technology Cadet Force attached to the 25 Guards Battalion, Army Cantonment and rose in ranks to become a member of the Command Council in 1997.
Upon the completion of his Ordinary National Diploma in 1997, he proceeded for Industrial Attachment at the renowned Muri Adi Associates, an establishment revered for its proficiency in Professional Valuation and Rating projects for one year.
His professional education resumed with his admission via direct entry into the department of Estate Management; Faculty of Environmental Sciences in the University of Lagos in 2000 and he graduated in 2005.
