Sant Jordi Awards
The Sant Jordi Awards are film prizes awarded annually in Barcelona by the Catalan branch of the Spanish radio network RNE. They were established in 1957 to encourage Catalan cinema at a time when Catalan language films were banned by the Spanish government under Francisco Franco. They were subsequently extended to all Spanish films.
Awards are made in the following categories:
- Millor òpera prima
- Millor pel·lícula espanyola
- Millor actriu de pel·lícula espanyola
- Millor actor de pel·lícula espanyola
- Millor pel·lícula estrangera
- Millor actriu de pel·lícula estrangera
- Millor actor de pel·lícula estrangera
- Premi especial del jurat
- Premi de la indústria cinematogràfica
- Premi Sant Jordi de la crítica de RNE
