San Antonio de Putina Province


San Antonio de Putina Province is a province of the Puno Region in Peru.

Geography

The Apolobamba mountain range traverses the province. Wisk'achani, the highest mountain of the range, lies on the border with Bolivia. Other peaks of the province are listed below:

Ethnic groups

The people in the province are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population learnt to speak in childhood, 30.24% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language and 9.37% using Aymara .
