Sam Denby


Sam Denby is an American YouTube personality and podcaster, best known for creating the YouTube channels Wendover Productions and Half as Interesting.

Career

Wendover Productions

Denby created the YouTube channel Wendover Productions on 11 February 2010. He uploaded his first video about the psychology of advertising on 31 August 2015. Denby has since uploaded hundreds of other videos. he has almost 2.6 million subscribers and almost 326 million total views. His videos are most commonly about logistics, most notably those of aviation, as well as geography and economics. His video on Tourism in Iceland received significant attention.

Half as Interesting

On 31 August 2017, Denby announced the creation of a second channel called Half as Interesting. The channel was launched to be a continuation of a series called "That Wikipedia List" or TWL, which had covered topics Denby chose from, but the new channel would not be limited to that list. Videos are released 3 times every 2 weeks, every Thursday and every other Tuesday at 10:30 am Eastern Time, and cover various assorted topics.

Other works

In March 2018, he was invited to film with scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson on his show StarTalk, where Denby, Tyson and Chuck Nice talked about the possibilities of interstellar travel. This coincided with the launch of his third channel, Sam from Wendover.
On June 2019, Denby created a podcast called Extremities about the logistics of living in the world's most isolated populated locations. The first season was about Pitcairn Island, consisting of six episodes. Season 2 started on 25 September 2019 and is about Svalbard. Season 3 started on 27 November 2019 and is about Saint Helena. Also, on 31 December 2019, Wendover Productions released on YouTube the documentary The World's Most Useful Airport, which documents the origins of the airport of St. Helena, the troubles with being certified for operational use, etc. alongside a segment that talks about the airport's medevac value with a testament from the mother of a patient.
He was one of the original founders of the Standard creator community along with Dave Wiskus, CGP Grey, Philipp Dettmer and many other creators. Through Standard, he has released most of his content on the Nebula streaming video service, as well as one Nebula Exclusive The Final Years of Majuro

Personal life

While Denby was born in Washington, D.C., he explained during the launch of his third channel that he has lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, for at least two years. he studies international business.
