Sōemonchō


Sōemonchō is a district in the Chūō-ku ward of Osaka, Japan. The area is neighbouring to Shinsaibashi in the north and to Dōtonbori Canal in the south. It is one of the major entertainment districts of Chūō-ku and facilitates a high concentration of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

In popular culture

Sōemonchō is mentioned in a song called Sōemonchō Blues by Katsuji Heiwa and Dark Horse, which was released in 1972 and became a major hit in Japan, selling two million copies.
