Ryan James (soccer)


Ryan Lee James is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays for USL Championship club Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC as a defender.

Career

College and amateur

James played four years of college soccer at Bowling Green University between 2012 and 2015. In 2012, he played with TFC Academy in the Canadian Soccer League.

Professional

Rochester Rhinos

James was drafted in the third round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by Sporting Kansas City. However, he didn't sign with Kansas City, instead joining United Soccer League side Rochester Rhinos in March 2016. In December 2016, Rochester announced that James would return for the 2017 season. James would play two seasons with Rochester, before the club announced they would not play in the 2018 USL season.

Nashville SC

James was signed by Nashville SC in the USL on December 14, 2017. On November 14, 2018, the club announced that they had not re-signed James for the 2019 season.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC

In November 2018, James was signed by Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC for the 2019 season, with an option for 2020.

International career

James participated in two camps of Canada U-17 team in 2010.
He is also eligible to play for Jamaica as his father was born in Clarendon.
