Ruhrdeutsch

Ruhrdeutsch is a German variety of Low German spoken in the Ruhr area. Most linguists consider it a regiolect. Ruhrdeutsch as a concept has to be understood as a group of many differing regional and local variants, based on the different dialects existing in this partly Rhenish, partly Westphalian area before the industrialization.
Through immigration its vocabulary has been influenced by Polish and Yiddish to a small extent, although this influence has proved to be smaller than thought.
