Rugby Town F.C. (1945)
Rugby Town Football Club was an English football club based in Rugby, Warwickshire.History
The club was formed in 1945 under the name Rugby Oakfield. They joined the Central Amateur League in 1946, and were champions in 1947–48, after which they moved up to the United Counties League. In 1950 they were renamed Rugby Town and transferred to the Birmingham Combination, in which they played until 1954 when the league was effectively absorbed into the Birmingham & District League. After starting in the Southern Division, they club then played in Division One from 1955–56 onwards.
Rugby Town joined the Southern League in 1958, and completed till 1973, when they resigned from the league, ceased playing, but did not fold.
The club was restored in 1993 and joined the Midland Football League, but spent only three seasons before leaving it. Rugby Town returned to the league in 2000 and managed to achieve two promotions to reach the Premier Division of the Midland League, but finally folded in 2004.
Nearby club Rugby United, established in 1955, was renamed Rugby Town in 2005.
