Rovers Cup


The Rovers Cup was a football tournament held in India. It was started by British football enthusiasts at Bombay in 1891. 1st Worcester Regiment was the winner in the inaugural year. The last time this championship was held was in the 200001 season, when Mohun Bagan beat Churchill Brothers Sports Club from Goa 20 in the final. The WIFA is making efforts to revive the tournament.

Performance of Indian teams

Among Indian clubs, Mohun Bagan was the first one to participate in this tournament in 1923, when they lost in the finals to Durham Light Infantry by 14 margin. 1st Indian team to win this tournament was Bangalore Muslims, in 1937.
