The canal was originally located in the middle of Rochor Canal Road and Sungei Road. The process to shift the canal to the right of Sungei Road started in mid-2010. Most of the major construction and realignment processes were completed by mid-2015. These efforts made to overcome was recognised by the Singapore Concrete Institute in the form of an excellence award in the builders' category in 20 November 2015.
