Robert Connell (police commissioner)


Robert Connell was commissioner of police for the state of Western Australia between 1913 and 1933. Prior to this he had risen through the ranks of the police, after joining in 1886.
Born to Anne, née Burliegh, at Waterville, County Kerry, Ireland, on 19 December 1867. His father Lot Connell served in the Irish Coast Guard. Travelled to Australia, joined police, worked at ports of Albany and Fremantle, goldfields of Coolgardie and the state's capital Perth. Retired to Albany. Died at Perth 11 June 1956.
