Rob VanAlkemade


Rob VanAlkemade is an American documentary filmmaker.

Biography

Rob VanAlkemade began his career as, variously, a film director, producer, cinematographer, sound recordist, and editor in 1995. His documentary short Preacher with an Unknown God, about performance artist and political activist Reverend Billy and his Stop Shopping Gospel Choir, was awarded an Honorable Mention in Short Filmmaking from the shorts jury at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006 and led to a 2007 documentary feature What Would Jesus Buy?, about the group's month-long anti-consumerism tour across the United States.
After living in New York for many years, VanAlkemade currently resides in Los Angeles where he works as a network showrunner/executive producer and an independent documentary director, cinematographer and editor. His recent EP work includes Training for the Apocalypse, for Nat Geo US, for CMT, Hungry for LOGO channel and Dope Man for A&E.
