Richmond upon Thames College


Richmond upon Thames College is a College of General Further and Higher Education located on a single site in Twickenham. It provides education and training to 16 to 18 year-olds and adults from across Richmond upon Thames and further afield.
The college received a "good" rating in all areas from Ofsted in its November 2017 report.
The college offers a wide range of academic and technical vocational qualifications including a wide range of A Levels and a raft of technical vocational qualifications, higher education courses and Apprenticeships.
The college is currently involved in a redevelopment project of its existing 22-acre estate. This project will result in a state of the art college of further and higher education, a new 11–16 secondary school sponsored by Richmond upon Thames College; Richmond Council; Achieving for Children and Harlequins Football Club, purpose-built accommodation for Clarendon School's secondary pupils and Haymarket's new "tech hub" and digital media incubator. The first phase of this project should be completed in 2020.

General

The college was formed in 1977 by a merger of the sixth form colleges from Shene School and Thames Valley School with the former Twickenham College of Technology on its site.
The college currently has around 2,500 full-time students. All students have access to the college's on-site facilities, which include sports fields, sports hall and gym, a large learning and resources centre and many specialist facilities for the college's performing arts, media, art, construction crafts, engineering, science, languages, sports and catering students. Parking is available on the campus for both staff and students and there are a number of food outlets. The college is one of the largest suppliers of students to university and also has excellent employer links to help students find employment.

Location

The college is situated in Twickenham, Greater London, a third of a mile from the English national rugby stadium. The nearest rail link is Twickenham Station and the nearest underground connections are Richmond and Hounslow Central. It is also served by local bus routes, notably the 281 between Tolworth and Twickenham and the 267 between Fulwell and Hammersmith.

Enrichment

The college has an extensive enrichment programme for its 16- to 19-year-old students; this includes music, recreational sports and sports academies and a number of clubs and societies.
