Richard Speer
Richard Speer is an American author and journalist. Since 2002, Speer has been an art critic at The Willamette Week, a Portland, Oregon alternative weekly newspaper.Career
Until 2001, Speer worked as a news writer, editor, and producer for WESH-TV, WHLT-TV, WJTV, and KFSM-TV.
Speer's essays, art reviews, and feature articles have appeared in Newsweek, Salon, ARTnews, Art Ltd., Opera News, and The Los Angeles Times. His feature reports have earned four first-place awards and two second-place awards from The Associated Press and a first-place award from The Society of Professional Journalists.
Speer is the author of the 2005 biography of outsider artist Matt Lamb, Matt Lamb: The Art of Success, published by John Wiley & Sons.
