Resistance literature

Resistance literature is a subset of literary output that is a socio-political activity involved in a struggle against dominant ideologies. Resistance literature shows us the writer's fight whether it be gender-based oppression, liberation struggles or exile. It is a global phenomenon. It aims to challenge the norm and defy cultural practices and in turn give hope. While armed resistance can cause governmental and civil change, only through literary elements can the fight win against cultural supremacy, as explained by Barbara Harlow's book Resistance Literature. Resistance could also be in the form of humour, bitching and gossip.
