Reginald Mallett


James Reginald Mallett was the third Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana. He was born in Ohio, and attended the University of North Carolina and the General Theological Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1918 and consecrated as Bishop of Northern Indiana in 1944. He previously served at a number of Episcopal churches, including St. John's Church, Wilmington, North Carolina; Trinity Cathedral, Cleveland, Ohio; Holy Trinity Church, Greensboro, North Carolina; Christ Church, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Grace Church, White Plains, New York; and Grace and St. Peter's Church, Baltimore, Maryland. In 1944, he was awarded a DD by Nashotah House Theological Seminary.
Mallett was episcopal visitor to St. Gregory's Abbey, Three Rivers, Michigan and served as Superior-General of the American Branch of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament from 1946 to 1965.
He retired on October 29, 1963. He is buried in St. James Memorial Chapel, Howe, Indiana.
