Razia Sultana (lawyer)


Razia Sultana is a Bangladeshi lawyer who was born in Myanmar and has won International Women of Courage Award 2019.

Biography

Razia Sultana was born in 1973 in Maungdaw, to a Rohingya family. She grew up in Bangladesh.
She is working for Rohingya people. She is working for other ethnic people of Myanmar too. She is a lawyer, educator and human rights activists. She works especially for Rohingya girls and women.
She has published two reports after taking interviews of hundreds Rohingyas. The name of the reports are Witness to Horror and Rape by Command. In these report she has told the world about sexual violence to Rohingya girls and women's by Burmese security forces. She has also contributed to The Killing Fields of Alethankyaw which was published by Kaladan Press.
Razia Sultana is working ad a coordinator of the Free Rohingya Coalition and a director of the Arakan Rohingya National Organization's women's section too.
