Randy Katz
Randy Howard Katz is a distinguished professor at University of California, Berkeley of the electrical engineering and computer science department.
Katz received an A.B. from Cornell University, MS from UC Berkeley, and Ph.D. from UC Berkeley all in computer science.
Katz is a fellow of both the Association for Computing Machinery and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a member of National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has published over 250 refereed technical papers, book chapters, and books. His textbook, Contemporary Logic Design, has sold over 85,000 copies, and has been used at over 200 colleges and universities. He was awarded the IEEE James H. Mulligan, Jr. Education Medal in 2010.
Katz, along with David A. Patterson and Garth Gibson, developed the redundant array of inexpensive disks concept for computer storage in their 1988 SIGMOD Conference paper.Books
