Ramanaw Mallam


Ramanaw Mallam, more commonly known as Ramanaw, is an Indian film director and writer, who works in Telugu cinema and Tamil cinema. He started his career with legendary Indian film director Gautham Vasudev Menon. Later he associated with National Film Award-winning directors Cheran and Vikram Kumar. He wrote dialogues for Cheran's Telugu debut film Yemito Ee Maaya. Now he is doing his debut film with Vijay Deverakonda.

Early life and education

Ramanaw was born on 24 February 1973 in Hyderabad, Telangana. He attended Viveka Vardhani High School in Koti, Hyderabad and graduated from Dr. B. R Ambedkar College with a with a Bachelor of Commerce before going on to receive a Master of Commerce from Osmania University.

Career

Ramanaw Mallam began writing during his undergraduate years at university. He claims to have been inspired by films such as S. Shankar's Gentleman and expressed his desire to his parents to change his career path and become a filmmaker. At the time of graduation he also worked as a programme head at a news channel and special correspondent for a music channel.
Later, after meeting director Gautham Vasudev Menon, he joined him as an associate director on his films Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu and Neethaane En Ponvasantham. He was once quoted as saying "Gautham is my guru and god of my film career, if my life career permits I would love to assist him again even after becoming a director." After Gautham Menon he co-directed the film Manam with Vikram Kumar. Then he teamed up with director Cheran to work on Yemito Ee Maaya, for which he also wrote the dialogue.
In 2015 he announced he was going to direct his debut film for V. R. Kanneganti Pictures with Vijay Deverakonda and Reshmi Menon in lead roles.
