Rajiv Rattan is an Indian entrepreneur and business executive who is a founder and Chairman of Rattan India Group. Rattan partnered with Lone Star Funds to jointly invest $400 million and launched the NBFC - Rattan India Finance Pvt. Ltd. The Rattan family and affiliates of Lone Star each owns 50% of Rattan India Finance. Rattan co-founded the Indiabulls Groupin 1999 - setting off from the securities business and rapidly expanding it into finance, real estate infrastructure and power businesses. Rattan took control of Indiabulls Infrastructure and Power in September 2014 and renamed it Rattan India Power in November 2014. The company created a national record by commissioning 3 units in its Amravati Power plant, having an aggregate capacity of 810 MW, within a short span of 39 days in March 2015.
Rattan started his career with Schlumberger with a successful stint till 1999. Venturing into his own business, he co-founded the Indiabulls group – Indiabulls Infrastructure and Power, Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd., Indiabulls Financial Services Ltd. and Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. He took control of Indiabulls Infrastructure and Power in September 2014 and named it as RattanIndia Power in November 2014. In 2018, Rattan committed a joint investment of Rs. 2600 crore along with the affiliates of Lone Star to float an NBFC, RattanIndia Finance Pvt. Ltd.
Awards
Rattan received the "Power Awards Thermal & Conventional Energy – Private Sector" at 9th ENERTIA Awards 2015 from Sh. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana. The award was recognition of RattanIndia Power as one of the largest private players in development of power plants in the country and has successfully commissioned 1620 MW of capacity in Maharashtra across its Amravati and Nashik Coal.
Rattan received the "India TV Yuva Awards" for the Business category in 2013.
