Rúben Vinagre


Rúben Gonçalo da Silva Nascimento Vinagre is a Portuguese footballer who plays as a left wing-back for Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Career

Early career

Vinagre began his career in the academy system of Sporting CP before joining Ligue 1 club AS Monaco in summer 2015. After spending his first season solely in the club's youth side, he signed a professional contract in June 2016.
During the summer of 2016, Vinagre featured in five matches of the Portuguese under-17 national team's success at the UEFA European Championship in Azerbaijan, where they won the tournament after defeating Spain on penalties in the final.
In August 2016, a deal was agreed for Vinagre to be loaned to Portuguese Second Division side Académica de Coimbra to gain experience,
but FIFA, whose approval was required due to the player being under age 18, refused to sanction the deal. After an unsuccessful appeal, Vinagre returned to his parent club in January 2017 without making any appearances for Académica.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

In June 2017, Vinagre signed a new contract with Monaco due to last until summer 2022. Shortly after, he moved on a season-long loan to English side Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 2017–18 season. He made his senior debut on 8 August 2017 in an EFL Cup victory against Yeovil Town. On 30 September 2017, Vinagre scored his first goal in professional football, scoring the third goal during Wolves's 4–0 win at Burton Albion.
On 30 June 2018, Vinagre joined Wolves on a permanent basis, signing a five-year-contract for an undisclosed fee.
On 25 July 2019 Vinagre made his debut appearance in UEFA European club competition in Wolves's 2–0 home win against Crusaders in the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League Second Qualifying Round, also scoring his first goal at European club competition level in the process.
