Quintus Caecilius Metellus (tribune)
Quintus Caecilius Metellus was a son of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Creticus. He was a Tribune of the Plebs and later one of Mark Antony's Generals at the Battle of Actium. As Tribune, he proposed the recall of Pompey from Asia, under the pretext that the commonwealth was in danger. Julius Caesar supported this decree, Cato the Younger opposed it. Both Caesar and Metullus were dismissed from office by a vote of the Senate but were later reinstated when Caesar pacified a mob that gathered in their support.
