According to its website, the center "provides a safe space to support and celebrate LGBTQ diversity, visibility and community building". Q Center is a registered 501 organization which offers programs and services related to arts and culture, education and training, health and wellness, and advocacy.History
The community center was established in 2005, championed by then-city Commissioner Sam Adams. Kendall Clawson, an African American lesbian, served as its first executive director. The center relocated to North Mississippi Avenue in 2009.
