Public Health Inspector (Sri Lanka)
A Public Health Inspector in Sri Lanka is an officer appointed by the Department of Health to maintain public health standards.
PHIs are selected through an entrance exam and undertake the Public Health Inspectors’ Diploma Course at the National Institute of Health Sciences. PHIs are assigned to different parts of the country, hospitals, departments, ports, airports and seconded to local government authorities such as Municipal Councils.Ranks

Uniform
PHIs wear a Khaki uniform when on duty, with a Khaki Tunic, pants and peak cap. PHIs of the Colombo Municipal Council wear white tunics with green or black epaulette.
