Pterodon is an extinct genus of superficially wolf-like hyainailurids that lived in Europe and Africa during the late Eocene, about 30 million years ago.Taxonomy
Pterodon nyanzae Savage, 1965 is now considered to be synonymous with Hyainailouros. Likewise, the putative Asian species P. dahkoensis is now assigned to its own genus, Orienspterodon.
