Prerna Gupta


Prerna Gupta is an American businesswoman. Gupta co-founded Khu.sh, a company that makes iPhone applications, with her husband, Parag Chordia. In 2011, Khu.sh was acquired by Smule. That year, Fast Company called her one of the most influential women in technology.

Personal life and education

Prerna Gupta grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She graduated from Stanford University in 2004 with a degree in economics. She lives in Los Altos Hills, California.

Work

After graduating from Stanford she worked at Monitor Group, followed by Summit Partners. Gupta eventually started Yaari, a social networking website for Indian people. The company closed in 2008.
In 2009, Gupta released the iPhone app LaDiDa with her husband, Parag Chordia. Upon its release it was the number one free music app on iTunes. Khu.sh also developed the application Songify. They founded the company Khush, to create "intelligent mobile apps" It was purchased by Smule in December 2011. Khush app users total over 50 million users internationally. Gupta now works for Smule and is also an angel investor.
Gupta has written articles for The New York Times, TechCrunch, Vogue and VentureBeat. She has spoken at SXSW. Wiles Magazine listed her as one of the top 10 female entrepreneurs in 2012.
