Preetika Rao is an Indian actress, model and former film journalist and singer. She is known for her portrayal of Aaliya Haider in Colors TV's romantic dramaBeintehaa. She was praised from Bangladeshi people for a TVC of Danish Condensed Milk.
Personal life
Rao graduated majoring in History from Sophia College, while also acquiring a diploma in advertising and journalism. Her sister, Amrita Rao, is a famous Bollywood actress.
Career
As a teen-model, Preetika started her modelling career with an advertisement for Cadbury Dairy Milk, along with Amitabh Bachchan, directed by Shoojit Sarkar, she moved on to have a successful modelling career with forty plus tvc and print campaigns to her credit. She went to do film journalism and wrote for Bangalore Mirror, Deccan Chronicle and the Asian Age. In order to pursue her academic degree, Rao chose to let go off several big offers from Bollywood that came her way including some hit movies Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane NaVeer and Aashiqui 2. Rao made her acting debut with the Tamil romantic filmChikku Bukku with Media One Global Ent Pvt Ltd, the makers of Tamil movieJeans and Rajnikanth's Kochadaiiyaan. However Rao quit South movies for a diploma course in broadcast journalism from the New York Film Academy. In 2014, Rao made the transition from regional cinema to national television with the popular television serialBeintehaa aired on Colors TV, playing the role of Aaliya Ghulam Haider. Rao won the Best Actress Award at the Kalakar Awards, held at Kolkata in January 2015, along with the Gold Best Debut. Rao is the brand ambassador for Perfect Miss India Awards by Perfect Woman magazine. In 2017, Rao offered the Indian television reality controversial show Bigg Boss, although she offered the show 2, 3 times in a row but she turned down the opportunity because she don't want to make her life public and 24/7 on camera. And in that year she did another television serial Love Ka Hai Intezaar as Mohini on Star Plus. in 2018 she was last seen in appeared an episodic role series Laal Ishq on &TV In 2019, Rao come in a limelight when some rummers are spreading that she made a Bollywood debut with the hit movie seriesMurder, opposite Actor Karan Singh Grover. But the news denied by TV media portal that it was rumors and still Murder 4 is under process working.
