Piano Vetrale

Piano Vetrale, also shortened as Vetrale or Piano, is a southern Italian village and hamlet of Orria, a municipality in the province of Salerno, Campania. As of 2011, its population was of 475.

History

The origin of the toponym comes from Planus and Veteres. The village, originally named Piano del Cilento, is part of the municipality of Orria since 1801 and was divided into two separated settlements until the 1960s. Piano Vetrale became a "painted town" with large murales outside the houses, at the end of the 1970s, following the idea of the Sicilian artist Pino Crisanti.
