Patrick Terrail


Patrick Terrail is a restaurant and hotel consultant. He is the owner of the Los Angeles restaurant Ma Maison. His family owned the Tour d’Argent in Paris.

Early life

Born to parents Jean Claude and Gabrielle Terrail, he came to the United States in 1959. He went on to study at Cornell University from 1960-1963 where he studied hotel management.
As a child, he lived in Greece and was a champion sailor.

Career

Prior to opening Ma Maison in 1973, he held a variety of positions in the hospitality industry. His first job was as the Associate director at the Brasserie Restaurant in New York City from 1964-1965. He was the president and co-founder of Four Elements, Inc. and Information Clearing House from 1968-1972. He was the special assistant to the president of Hiram Walker & Sons Inc. starting in 1992.

Teaching

With Robin Leach, he wrote A Taste of Hollywood about Ma Maison. He also wrote The Ma Maison Cooking School Cookbook.

Awards

He met his wife Jackie after he moved to the Atlanta area. While in Los Angeles, he was in a relationship with Kathy Gallagher, who also owned a restaurant in Los Angeles.
