Paracommando Qualification (Belgium Armed Forces)

Paracommando Qualification can trace its linage back to 1953 When the Belgium Army combined the Parachutist Training of the 1st Paratroopers Battalion with the Amphibious and Mountain Training of the 2nd Commando Battalion, the two units have there origins with the Free Belgium's units formed in the United Kingdom during the Second World War, The 1st Paratroopers Battalions had its origins with Belgian 5th SAS and adopted the SAS Flaming Sword of Excalibur badge and Maroon coloured Beret and the 2nd Commando Battalion had its origins with 4 Troop of 10 Commando subsequently the 3rd Paratroopers Battalion and 4th Commando Battalion where formed and trained as Paracommandos
The Paratrooper Battalion and the Commando Battalion are all trained identically, When a Paracommando completes their training they would be allocated to one of the Battalions if to a Paratrooper Battalion there would be awarded the Maroon Beret If they were allocated to a Commando Battalion they would be awarded the Sherwood Green Beret, however what ever Battalion a Paracommando went to they would wear the Parachute Qualification Brevet above the right side chest Pocket and Belgian "Commando Dagger" brevet on the upper right sleeve.
