Panchajanyam (1982 film)


Panchajanyam is a Malayalam language film directed by K. G. Rajasekharan. It was released in 1982.

Cast

After an abnormal death of businessman Sekhara Pilla, Lakshmidevi and her mentally retarded son Raghu are taken care by Thampi alias Madhavan Thampi, who was once his manager. They are treated very badly, and the still survive as the properties of Sekhara Pillai are being written for his son Raghu and his descendants; and also a clause was written that, in case if the ancestral property could not be handled to Raghu, it should be distributed to the employees.
Balan is an influential worker in the area. He had lost one leg years ago. He stays with his wife, son and sister Indira alias Indu). While taking a fever affected Balan's son to doctor, Thambi's driver forcefully drags and molests Balan's wife and Balan's son dies as treatment was delayed. Venu arrives and joins as the lorry driver in Thampi's estate. Balan's sister falls for Venu, and love blossoms between them.
Since there were no loopholes in the agreement documents, on advice from his advocate Thampi plans to trap Raghu by citing that he had an illegal relationship with their maid, so that the property will be inherited to the child that the maid conceives. They were successful in their plans and had got Raghu married. However the maid spends nights with Thambi's son.
Meanwhile, former police inspector Soman gets released from jail. He was imprisoned for a falsely alleged murder which was planned by Thampi. On release, he challenges Thampi. Venu meets Lakshmidevi at their house and reveals that he is the son of Sekhara Pillai's driver. Both Sekhara Pillai as well as his father was brutally killed by Thampi, by creating false accidents. Thampi had exploded the jeep with Sekhara Pillai inside, and had burnt Venu's house with his father inside after injuring him severely.
Venu as well as Soman plans to trap Thambi. After knowing Venu's interest in Indu, Thambi's people kidnap Indu. A chase and fight proceeds and finally the crowd takes on Thambi.
