Paderborn – Gütersloh III

Paderborn – Gütersloh III is one of the 299 single member constituencies used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. It is one of sixty four electoral districts in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The constituency elects one representative under the mixed member proportional representation system. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 137.
The constituency was created as Paderborn for the 1980 election, replacing the Paderborn – Wiedenbrück constituency. It was coterminous with the county of Paderborn until the 2005 election, when the town of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock in Gütersloh county was added. For the 2013 election, although the boundaries were unchanged, the constituency assumed its current name.
All constituencies covering Paderborn have been won by the Christian Democratic Union since the 1949 election and the current representative is Carsten Linnemann, who retained the constituency in the 2013 election.
