Cathedral

The edifice is also known as the Spanish Cathedral, being the only exponent in the locality of the Spanish modernist architecture of the second half of the twentieth century in Morocco.
The cathedral was inaugurated in 1961. It was designed and built with modern architectural techniques, following classic proportions by the architect Luis Martínez-Feduchi Ruiz.
In the cathedral's apse, stained glass windows designed by the Alicante artist Arcadio Blasco stand out. They constitute one of the main attractions of the cathedral.
The remains of Father José María Lerchundi, missionary in Morocco for more than thirty years, rest in an underground crypt under the church.
