Othman Karim


Othman Karim is a Swedish film director, documentary producer, television presenter and photographer.
Karim came to Sweden from Uganda in 1975 when his family fled Idi Amin's reign. He has studied at Brooks Institute of Photography, followed by employment with Steven Spielberg's production company Amblin Entertainment.
For many years he hosted Swedish television program Mosaic.
His documentary The Promised Land about searching for your identity by going back to your roots was selected as one of Sveriges Television contributions to Prix Europa in 2001.
Karim's film About Sara won the Golden St. George Prize for Best Film at the 28th Moscow International Film Festival, and was the Viewers Choice at Kolkata International Film Festival. In 2007 he was a member of the jury at the 29th Moscow International Film Festival.
He received a lot of attention in Scandinavia when he cast Danny Glover in his 2010 film För kärleken. Dear Alice centers on four people whose fates intertwine on one day when the decisions they make will have life-shattering results.
He is married to film producer Malin Holmberg-Karim. Othman Karim has two brothers, TV-director Baker Karim, and actor Alexander Karim.
