Orem Utah Temple

The Orem Utah Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that is in the planning stages in Orem, Utah. Plans to construct a temple in Orem were announced on October 5, 2019 by President Russell M. Nelson during the Saturday Women's session of General Conference. The Orem Utah Temple is the first in the city of Orem, the sixth in Utah County and the 22nd temple in the state of Utah.
On December 11, 2019, just 67 days after the announcement of the temple, the church announced that the temple would be built on a parcel of land owned by the church just a half mile south of the University Parkway exit of Interstate 15 on Geneva Road. The 16 acre site is located on the west side of Interstate 15 about one mile south of the Orem UTA Frontrunner station. Plans for the temple indicated that it will be a three-story, 70,000 square foot building. The church also anticipates construction of a 20,000 square foot meetinghouse on the same property.
On June 24, 2020, the church announced that the groundbreaking for the temple would be held on September 5, 2020. Elder Craig C. Christensen, the Utah Area President of the church, was assigned to direct the ceremony. The expected construction time for the temple is about three years with completion expected by fall of 2023.
