Olivier Marleix


Olivier Marleix is a French politician of the Republicans who has been serving as a member of the French National Assembly since the 2012 elections, representing the department of Eure-et-Loir.

Political career

In parliament, Marleix serves on the Committee on Legal Affairs. In addition to his committee assignments, he is a member of the French-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group.
From 2017 until 2018, Marleix chaired a parliamentary inquiry into whether France's government should subject foreign takeovers of French firms it has cleared to parliamentary scrutiny.
Following Christian Jacob's election as LR chairman, Marleix announced his candidacy to succeed him as lead of the party's parliamentary group in November 2019; he eventually lost against Damien Abad.

Political positions

In the Republicans’ 2016 presidential primaries, Marleix endorsed Nicolas Sarkozy as the party's candidate for the office of President of France. In the Republicans’ 2017 leadership election, he endorsed Laurent Wauquiez.
