Ofterschwang


Ofterschwang is a municipality in southern Germany, in Oberallgäu, Bavaria. It is a professional winter sports venue, regularly used for World Cup alpine events.
Ofterschwang is also famous for skiing and other kinds of sport.
Traditionally the area is agricultural. The town has a church with a World War II memorial as well as small chapels.
Tourism has become a major trade in the region with skiing in the winter, and hiking, mountain biking, parachute flying, and other mountain sports in the summer. Also popular with tourists in Ofterschwang is the Dorfsabend, or village evening, with traditional Bavarian costume, dance, food, and beer.

In popular culture

In 2009, the German record label Kompakt released a track called "Ofterschwang" by minimalist electronic DJ Jürgen Paape. The piece was inspired by traditional German brass music.
