Nyoma


Nyoma is a village and headquarter of eponymous Subdivision and block in the Leh district of Ladakh in India. It is located in the Leh tehsil, on the bank of Indus River.
A small Buddhist monastery is located on the hill at the back of the village. Since 2010, foreign tourists with Inner Line Permits are permitted to visit Nyoma and its monastery.
Nyoma is also home to an Advanced Landing Ground of Indian Airforce, which was reactivated when an An-32 landed in this airfield on 18 September 2009.
Nearby towns are Mahe and Rupshu, the town lies in the Leh - Loma - Hanle road. Nyoma is located 41 km southeast of Chumathang. It is 23 km from Mahe village and roughly the same distance from the Chinese border.
