NuGet is a free and open-source package manager designed for the Microsoft development platform.
Since its introduction in 2010, NuGet has evolved into a larger ecosystem of tools and services.

Overview

NuGet is distributed as a Visual Studio extension. Starting with Visual Studio 2012, NuGet comes pre-installed by default. NuGet is also integrated with SharpDevelop. NuGet can also be used from the command line and automated with scripts.
It supports multiple programming languages, including:
Chocolatey is a machine-level package manager and installer for software packages, built for the Windows NT platform. It is an execution engine using the NuGet packaging infrastructure and Windows PowerShell to provide an automation tool for installing software on Windows machines, designed to simplify the process from the user perspective.
Chocolatey can be invoked by the PackageManagement module of PowerShell version 5.0.
The name is an extension on a pun of NuGet "because everyone loves Chocolatey nougat".
