Nimbus Publishing

Nimbus Publishing is a Canadian publishing company, founded in 1978, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The company specializes in subjects relevant to the Atlantic Provinces. Nimbus produces more than forty new titles a year on a range of subjects relevant to the Atlantic Provinces— children’s picture books and fiction, literary non-fiction, social and cultural history, nature photography, current events, biography, sports, and cultural issues. Recently, they have sought to expand beyond Atlantic Canada, and have produced further-reaching titles.
Nimbus Publishing is the largest Canadian English-language publisher east of Toronto.
In 2005, Nimbus introduced a new fiction imprint called Vagrant Press and in 2012, John Marshall, the owner of Nimbus, decided to sell the company, while their general manager, Dan Soucoup, announced his retirement. Terrilee Bulger and Heather Bryan, both employees of the company and fearing that it might be bought by a larger publishing house out of Ontario, made the decision to buy the company.
In March 2018, the publishing house moved into a larger warehouse on Strawberry Hill Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The building will also feature a coffee shop and the entire catalogue of books from Nimbus Publishing & Vagrant Press.
