Nial Ring


Nial Ring is a Dublin city councilor, who has served as Lord Mayor of Dublin from June 2018 to June 2019. An Independent who was formerly a member of Fianna Fail, he was first elected councillor for the Dublin North Inner City ward where he is from, in 2009 and was re-elected in 2014, and 2019.
Ring is a businessman, who worked as a banker, he trained as an accountant, he holds a finance and accounting degree from Dublin City University and a diploma in financial law from University College Dublin.
In June 2018, he was elected as the Lord Mayor of Dublin.
He was appointed to the board of the IDA in 1998 and served on it for 10 years.
Ring is a grandnephew of Liam Ó Rinn, who wrote the Irish-language version of "The Soldiers' Song", Ireland's national anthem.
