New Jersey Libertarian Party

The New Jersey Libertarian Party is the state affiliate of the national Libertarian Party in New Jersey. The chairman is Kevin Lowery.
Until 2001 New Jersey did not allow registering to vote as anything other than Democrat, Republican, or Independent. This was ruled unconstitutional in 2001 after a lawsuit was brought by a coalition of political parties, including the NJLP. As of July 1, 2020, there were 17,298 registered Libertarians in the state.
