New Brighton, New South Wales New Brighton New South Wales , is a small town located north-west of Ocean Shores in the Northern Rivers region. It includes a soccer field home to the Shores United Soccer Club and is very close to the Ocean Shores Public School located in North Ocean Shores. At the 2016 census , New Brighton had a population of 356 people.History The area around what is today New Brighton was called North Beach , and was a popular spot for surfing and a site for picnics. On 6 May 1849, a cyclone carried Swift in a strong southeasterly wind as the schooner cast ashore on a beach north of present-day New Brighton. The town has since then appeared in a postcard and is a popular holiday destination.
