Nestorian rebellion

The Nestorian rebellion was an uprising by the Nestorian community in southeast Turkey, which began on 12 September 1924 and ended on 28 September that same year. Its roots laid in the conflict between Turkey and the British over the status of Mosul. In order to get the upper hand in the conflict, Britain promised the Nestorians in Turkey an independent Nestorian homeland, which led to a Nestorian uprising. After the rebellion ended, 8,000 Nestorians were deported into Mandatory Iraq.
