Neil Basu


Anil Kanti "Neil" Basu, is a senior British police officer. Since March 2018, he has served as Assistant Commissioner Specialist Operations of the Metropolitan Police Service, and the National Police Chiefs Council lead for counter terrorism policing. He became a police officer in 1992, and has spent his whole career serving with the Metropolitan Police. He is the most senior police officer of Asian heritage: his father was from Kolkata, India and his mother was from Wales.
In the 2016 Queen's Birthday Honours, Basu was awarded the Queen's Police Medal for distinguished service.
