National Museum of Roman Art


The National Museum of Roman Art in Mérida, Spain is an archaeology museum located in the Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida, the archaeological site of the Roman colony of Augusta Emerita, one of the largest and most extensive archaeological sites in Spain.
Established on March 26, 1838 as Museo Arqueológico de Mérida, the current building, opened on September 19, 1986 is a work by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo.
The museum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993, as a part of the Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida.
