Nanchang–Shenzhen high-speed railway

The Nanchang–Shenzhen high-speed railway is a high-speed railway under construction between Shenzhen, Guangdong and Nanchang, Jiangxi. This will be a more direct high speed route, which currently requires travelling via Changsha using the Shanghai–Kunming high-speed railway and Beijing–Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong high-speed railway.
Construction work began on December 20, 2014, between Nanchang and Ji'an. The railway is expected to take five years to complete, in two sections, the Nanchang–Ganzhou high-speed railway from Nanchang to Ganzhou and the Ganzhou–Shenzhen high-speed railway from Shenzhen to Ganzhou. The design speed for the northern section will be between Nanchang and Ganzhou and from there south to Shenzhen.
Once completed it is expected to reduce travel times for Nanchang to Ganzhou from five hours to two hours. From Nanchang to Shenzhen, the trip will take a little under four hours, currently eight hours, forty-three minutes.
It will also be connected, at the southern end of the line, with the Xiamen–Shenzhen Railway to allow access to coastal Fujian cities.
