Nalin Kumar Kateel


Nalin Kumar Niranjan Shetty Kateel is an Indian politician who is the State President of Bharatiya Janata Party for the state of Karnataka. Member of Parliament who represents the Dakshina Kannada constituency of Karnataka since 2009. He won the seat for the third consecutive time in May 2019. In August 2019, he was appointed the Karnataka unit state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party by National President of Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah. He was further elected unanimously to continue in the same post for the next three years until 16 January 2023.

Political career

started his social and political life when he becoming a Prachark of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh, a Hindu Nationalist organisation at the age of 18 for a period of 12 years. After his father's death, he took over the responsibility of managing his family affairs, agriculture, and also started his professional career as a civil contractor. Later he joined the Bharatiya Janta Party and rising through the ranks became District general secretary of the party in the year 2004, the office of which he still holds. In the year 2009 he was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament the Sansad. He was re-elected as MP in the 2014 elections for the second term.
On 20 August 2019, he was appointed the state unit president of the Karnataka BJP to replace B. S. Yediyurappa who had become the chief minister.
